Pulau Ketam – HuoGong(火供)

Another charity photographic section for another Buddhist event. Reach at Pulau Ketam the day before the event and spent a night there to help up prepare for the event and necessity.

Do you really think that the night at Pulau Ketam Should look like the following pic?

Well, i guess you are wrong. See for yourself, the picture i took below was at around 12.00am! and the street was actually clouded with people. It’s actually got another temple event there at the same night that a stage was built for some small presentation and Karaoke section. The gals are hot!

Had you ever see the Relic of Buddha by your own eyes? Here is some picture of those relic and it was actually bring in from oversea for the display and for the followers to pray.

Many Kind of Relic of Buddha

This is the Blood Relic of Buddha

The relic is look like the diamond that you can actually look through it. It was shinny and have many colors. And some which is the Bone Relic does look like the bone, but harden then diamond. Believe said that the Relic of Buddha can grow by itself, if the owner do the good thing everyday. And it`s hard for someone to owe one of it, as they said it come with fate. Purchasing the relic are forbidden and those who sell or buying will be destiny to hell. Well, believe it or not?

Here are some instrument to “welcome” the their “Si yeah”, which kind of like the Guru in English.
This one actually can expand to quite nearly to a mature human height. The craftsmanship on it was fascinating.

This is is the Seashell, also can make the “put put” sound.

After setting up all the necessity, and they go welcome their Guru at the Port. The port was clouded at that moment as the civilian wanna to see the Guru. Oh, Forgot to tell you that the Guru is from Tibet, and he’s what Chinese call “Living Buddha” which mean he`s the next life after the old “Living Buddha” dead. So the wisdom was passing down life to life, and he`s the one in this generation. I had no study in deep about him as i`m not a religious people, but i know he`s a great man. That`s why got a lot of followers come and just to see how this guru look alike.

Here they come

See, the followers actually so believe in him and do the prayer to him.

If you are wonder what is HuoGong, actually it`s a ceremony to give the scarify to the god. Normally it`ll be open to the followers to build a good relationship with the god and hopefully they will have better life and also better next life. the sacrifice are just some herbs, followers, seashell, rice, beans…

Well, if you had been at Pulau Ketam, had you ever wonder why they cover the space between their pillar with some net? If you thought they wanna to keep their net dry or something then you had get it wrong. It`s actually for preventing the birds and crows come to shit at their house as the net would break their wings if the birds trap in the net!
